Bishop Willie C. Green, Th.D.

Dr. Willie C. Green was born February 5, 1954 on a tobacco farm in Quincy, Florida to Flossie
Mae Johnson and Isaac Green. He started working in the tobacco fields of Gadsden County
at the age of six, earning two dollars a day. In 1972 he graduated from James A. Shanks High
School in Quincy, Florida as class president, ranked in the top ten of his class

As a child, Dr. Green despised going to church. However, his mother always made him
attend church during the summer revivals where he developed a fascination with preaching.
His first personal experience with religion came when he “caught” religion and was baptized
at the age of twelve. Dr. Green’s real relationship with God began on January 11, 1970 when
the Holy Ghost overshadowed him in the Bethlehem Church of God In Christ and baptized
him. He was such a terror in the community that when he got saved many of his peers also
got saved. Two months later, he was called to preach under the leadership of Supt. Robert L.
McLeod.

As a boy preacher, Dr. Green preached and conducted revivals and shut-ins in many of the
churches in the panhandle of Florida. He and his friends would often conduct prayer
services at school during lunch time. Many of his classmates and some teachers were saved.
One night when he was up preaching in one of the farmhouse prayer meetings, his mother
came by, heard him, and got saved.

In 1972, he accepted a scholarship to attend The University of South Florida in Tampa.
Although his mother only completed the third grade, she was a great source of inspiration to
him. He preached his way through college, conducting revivals and making converts in
many of the churches in South Florida. Many leaders in several jurisdictions were saved
through his preaching. Dr. Green later earned a Master’s degree in Education Leadership
from Florida State University and a Doctorate in Theology and Christian Counseling from
Slidell Baptist University.

In 1975, Dr. Green married Diane Dilworth. Together they raised four children-Cedric,
Michael and Marcus (twins), and Christina. In 1976, he returned to Quincy and began
teaching at his old high school. Dr. Green spent more than thirty-one years as an educator
in Gadsden County serving as principal, assistant principal, teacher, athletic director,
baseball coach, basketball coach, volleyball coach, and department chairperson.

He served in many areas in the Church-Jr. Deacon, Jr. Church President, Sunday School
Superintendent, Gulf Coast District Y.P.W.W. President, Secretary State Evangelism
Department, Aide to Bishop M. L. Sconiers, President of Department of Education, Assistant
District Superintendent, and Superintendent of The Gulf Coast District. In 1984, he
established The Quincy and Community Deliverance COGIC. In 1986, he began Christ Is
The Rock Outreach Ministry. In 1988, Bishop M. L. Sconiers appointed him to pastor Holy
Temple COGIC in Panama City, Florida. In 2001, The Lord inspired Dr. Green to establish
The Community Learning Institute, a private school serving students in grades K-12. The
school is the only school of its kind in the area serving the needs of students that have fallen
far behind in school. Although Dr. Green is a retired public school administrator, he
continues to serve as a leader in the educational community.

In 2007 Dr. Willie C. Green was made Superintendent of The Gulf Coast District. In April
2010, he was appointed pastor of East Hill COGIC in Pensacola, Florida. However, In April of
2010 Superintendent Willie C. Green after much prayer and thought accepted the
appointment of Jurisdictional Bishop over the Florida Northwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction
of the Church of God in Christ which was established in the year of 1996. This was a
tremendous challenge for him but he had already been assured through much prayer that
God would be with him. After all the Jurisdictional Prelate (Bishop John Young) and
Jurisdictional Supervisor (Mother Stella Stallworth) had been in great conflict with each
other and after many slanderous battles and court cases the Florida Northwest Jurisdiction
was left without a leader (Bishop Young). Nonetheless, Bishop Green took the seven to
eight churches that remained in the Jurisdiction along with his great determination of
“Burying the Past, Marrying the Present, and Producing in the Future” the National COGIC
Theme of that year and worked tirelessly to rebuild the Jurisdictions Infrastructure.

Dr. Willie C. Green was consecrated on November 15, 2010 at the International Convocation
in Saint Louis, Missouri as the Jurisdictional Prelate of Florida Northwest. God has indeed
blessed this Jurisdiction under his great leadership and this Jurisdiction has grown from
three churches to ten thriving districts. (Emerald Coast District, Evangelical District, Gulf
Coast District, Gulfshore District, Lighthouse District, Northwest District, Panhandle
District, Pensacola #1 District, Spirit & In Truth District, Tri-State District) Mother Dollie
Reed is the newly appointed Jurisdictional Supervisor who was appointed in 2012 after the
dismissal of Supervisor Stallworth which not only battled with Bishop Young but also Bishop
Green. It was only with the HELP of God that Bishop Green has taken a Jurisdiction that
many said was literally lifeless and would not withstand the wicked devices of the devil.
However, Bishop Green is a Philippians 4:13 believer; realizing that He can do all things
through Christ which strengthens him.
